I went through the Tri4Him website in March, 2009 after stating my goal to finish my first 70.3 triathlon in 2009. I had a desire to do an Ironman at age 40, in looking for an event and in looking at my training schedule allotment and my work and family commitments, 2009 was to be a 70.3 year not a full ironman year. After selecting my big event: the inaugural Augusta 70.3 on August 27, 2009, I was able to find the plan for me on the Tri4Him web site. It was very simple to implement the 70.3 TriLife Eternal race/training plan. It would be a 16 week training plan with defined goals and workouts for each day. The plan helped me juggle the three disciplines and helped me budget time to get the long runs in and enough pool time to get through the swim. It also built in important rest days (which I started to look forward to in the later weeks). The plan was very specific and helped me focus each day on an important workout activity. I've had a habit in the past of just going out for a ride or a run and this plan certainly maximized my valuable training time. It gave me specific focus. The 16-week plan was delivered to me by Training Peaks.com, and I had it set it up so that the workouts were communicated to me by e-mail, so I was able to receive the workouts on my blackberry. Since I travel a lot and have to plan my workouts ahead, this was also a very helpful service. I have been doing triathlons for the past two years and did my fist Olympic distance in 2008. The 70.3 TriLife Eternal training plan did a superb job in prepping me for my first long triathlon and as a result I shattered my goal of 5:45 and was able to complete it in 5:13 and in the top 18% in my division. In summary, it was great to fly the Tri4Him colors at the race in Augusta; I just love the Tri4Him tri-top. Wearing that top helped me to focus on the positive and helped me to "talk up" nice things to other triathletes especially during the long run. That positive outlook and positive energy helped to carry me for the 13.1 (my first half marathon too!). My new goal is to go long and do a full 140.6 in 2010. I will also be using the full ironman TriLife Eternal training plan through Tri4Him. |
